Menagerie - Detail

The above Menagerie detail highlights smooth coloring. Smooth coloring is the overarching key to outstanding finished art. Color in one direction and just continue to expand colored areas on large spaces. The sky in India Episode (see image at top of page) and the cat in Lady and the Cat are other examples of designs that require this very smooth stroke. Practice on the entire back side of your swatch. Remember, large areas can often be left uncolored with good results.

Tropical Dreaming - Detail

Tropical Dreaming's preening birds and their neighbor orchids and hibiscus could be enhanced with shading, but don't necessarily require it.

Townhouses - Detail

Townhouses require smooth vertical strokes as you 'paint' the townhouse facades. For window boxes and other small details use colored pencils.

Abstract I - Detail

Abstract I highlights an ombre effect that can be achieved with a light overlay of multiple colors. Or color lightly and smoothly or heavily and smoothly. It's your modern art.
